I understand that certain home improvement projects are deductible. I had bought my house in late 2021. Do the following qualify?

- The springs on my two garage doors had to be replaced as one of the old ones snapped and the rest had become a safety issue

- Deep cleaning the air ducts of the house as they had apparently not been cleaned in many, many years and were really dirty

Sorry, you must have misunderstood something.  Repairs of any kind on a personal residence, not used as a rental or a business, are not deductible on a tax return.
