If your HSA contributions were made via payroll deduction (See your W-2, Box 12, Code W) they are already pre-tax and excluded from your taxable income,. This means they are not listed as a separate, additional deduction on your tax return. Your Form 1099-SA shows distributions, not contributions; if used for medical expenses, it is not taxable.

If you made personal contributions (not via payroll), make sure that on the screen that says Let's enter your HSA contributions you entered this amount in the box that says Contributions XXX personally made not through your employer.

To edit your HSA information in TurboTax you can:

    1. Click on Search at the top right of your TurboTax screen
    2. Type HSA in the search box
    3. Click on the link that says Jump to HSA
    4. Review your TurboTax screens to edit your information
