2020 1040x form

I completed the 2020 1040x form on Turbo Tax. My question is do I send the entire return with this form? I revised the home sale tax credit so I could use on this years taxes, which saved me a ton more off my taxes. The question is because the extra income effected our total income so I thought I need to send entire taxes rather than just the revised home sales credit. Thanks for any help

Yes. Send all forms that TurboTax prints out. IRS and/or your state will want a complete copy of your updated return, even forms that do not change.

We suggest sending your amended return by certified mail with proof of delivery.

Amended returns take 16 weeks to process. You can track your amended federal return at Where's My Amended Return?

If you indicated that you will mail in the 1040X in the FILE tab then go to the Print Center and choose the federal forms option ... that will produce all the forms needed to mail in to the feds along with the mailing instructions. If you amended the state then do the same for the state option.

You will send the 1040X (not the new 1040) plus any forms/schedules that changed or were added.

Do not include your old 1040 nor your revised 1040 because the Form 1040-X reflects any changes there and becomes your new tax return.

Include any new/corrected document only if it shows federal tax withheld, and include in order only those Sequence Numbered tax forms and Schedules that changed or were added due to your amendment.
Attachment Sequence Number is on all the forms and Schedules that come after 1040.

If you are using TurboTax you have to do this by visual comparison. The program won't break out those pages for you.
