I was under the impression that multiple hard inquiries would be counted as one on the credit report. Do I have to dispute this? And if so how do I go about this?

You can only dispute inquiries on your credit report if you did not authorize them.
Multiple hard inquiries made within 14 days for some scoring models, and up to 45 days for other models, will be treated as a single inquiry provided they are for the same type of loan, such as a mortgage, auto or student loan. Otherwise, the inquiries are treated as multiple inquiries.
