There are a few different techniques for building a score from scratch, versus repairing bad credit. If you are starting from no credit, see if one of your parents/ friends with good credit will add you as an additional user to one of their accounts. As long as they ask for your SSN it should be reported for your score as well. Then, make small charges (under 10% of the limit) once a month and pay it off IN FULL every month. This could be a tank of gas. You can even set up autopay in many cases so you can’t forget. Another option is a secured card, where you deposit a few hundred dollars up front and that amount is used as your limit. Your score should rise as you make your payments on time every month.
