You  may be able to claim the interest portion of your payments if you meet the following conditions:

·         You actually paid interest on a qualified student loan in tax year 2017;

·         You're legally obligated (ie. You are a cosigner) to pay interest on a qualified student

           loan

·         No one else is claiming you as a dependent on their tax return

·         Your filing status isn't Married Filing Separately;

·         Your Modified Adjusted Gross Income is less than a specified amount which is set

           annualy

TurboTax will walk you through the process.

To enter qualified student loan interest

·         Type in 1098e in the search box, top right of your screen, then click the magnifying glass

·         Click the jump to 1098e link in the search results

·         Follow to prompts and online instructions
