Where do submit a 8863 for a different year?

I qualified for the American opportunity tax credit (AOTC) and I've completed the 8863 but I can't find where I would submit it. Can I do it online or does it have to be through the mail.

Please clarify your question.

1. Do you want to submit an 8863 for a year other than 2022?

2. Are you doing your 2022 return through TurboTax? This form (if for 2022) is part of the tax return.

It would be for 2020

If you used TurboTax for your 2020 return, you can Amend your 2020 Return to include the 8863. 

If not, use your 2020 return to prepare a 1040X and mail it in with your Form 8863.
