A substitute form or statement is one that is not published by the IRS. For a substitute form or statement to be
acceptable to the IRS, it must conform to the official form or the specifications outlined by the IRS.

Enter a substitute form in the same manner as you would an official IRS document. To enter a 1098 mortgage interest statement:
  • In your open return, select My Account
  • Tools
  • Topic Search
  • Type '1098' in the box, then select GO
