I go to school and receive financial aid and the GI bill but don't know the exact amounts. Also, I am not sure about the totals I paid for tuition and books.

You should be able to get a 1098T Form from your school. This form will report either the amount of tuition paid or the amount billed to you. Also your GI bill benefits should be reported in Box 5. You need to enter the information from this form into Turbo Tax. Then Turbo Tax will ask you specific questions about your educational expenses to determine what amount of expenses are eligible for the education credit.
