How do I report my tuition waiver?

My University reports amounts billed to students in box 2 and leaves box 1 blank. I received an 80% tuition waiver. Am I supposed to subtract my tuition waiver amount myself and lower the amount in box 2 or no?

Yes, you have to change the amount reported in Box 2 of form 1098-T as you can only report tuition exactly paid.

In TurboTax, when filling out your form 1098-T, enter only the amount in Box 2, even if both boxes 1 and 2 are filled.

Under box 2, on the 1098-T screen is a link: What if this is not what (student name) paid to the school? Click on that and you will be given a chance to enter what was actually paid in 2016.
