I chose to allocate $2000 of qualified education expenses towards the AOTC during the TT interview screen "Choosing a larger Education Credit". I am happy with this choice and don't want TT to change it. During the Federal Review I am forced to check the entry to launch the optimizer. I ran the Federal Review 2 weeks ago and it passed without this prompt, and I have not changed anything in the Education screens.
How can I prevent TT from changing my choice and still pass the Federal Review?

Go through the entire education interview until you reach a screen titled "Your Education Expenses Summary". Click edit next to the student's name. That should take you to a screen “Here’s your Education Summary”. Click edit next to “Education Information”. When you get to the screen titled “Amount Used to Calculate Education Deduction or Credit”, verify the amount you want to use or change it (in your case to $2000). You may reach that screen sooner.

I did exactly what you suggested, then re-ran the Federal Review, and it PASSED! I did not change anything in the screens, I simply ran thru them all over again.
I ignored this Screen which popped up as I continued "Next, We'll See Which Credit Will Save You the Most" by exiting from that portion of the interview.
Is it OK that I ignored this screen? I am passing the review now.
Thank you, if it was that simple?!?
