I am using TurboTax DESKTOP Deluxe 2024. The program states I do not qualify for the Education Credit based on income exceeding 90K. I am assuming this is the Adjusted Gross Income, and not the Taxable Income, but could someone confirm please? My AGI definitely exceeds the 90K (Form 1040 Line 11), but my Taxable Income does not exceed the limit (Line 15 Form 1040).

The education credits are limited using AGI as a starting point, not taxable income. The education credits are based on modified adjusted income ("MAGI"), which starts with Line 11, AGI, and has several modifications. Here is the chart to figure MAGI for the American Opportunity Credit: Worksheet 2-1. MAGI for the American Opportunity Credit
Q. Could someone confirm that the income limit is the Adjusted Gross Income, and not the Taxable Income.
A. Yes, the income limit for claiming the education credits is the Adjusted Gross Income (AGI).
For most people, their AGI is the MAGI for the education credits. The MAGI includes additions (no subtractions). So, if your AGI disqualifies you, your MAGI won't change that.
