Education costs - Deductible vs Not Deductible

Hello Community

Looking to prepare for the 2024 tax filing year and want to know if someone can point me to the correct IRS code for Education expenses ? Trying to determine if college/university visit costs are deductible or not. Or at least point me to a list of items that I can deduct vs not deductible. Thank you

Education costs - Deductible vs Not Deductible

Nothing is actually deductible, any more, with a recent law change. There are now two educational tax credits available. Qualified educational expenses (QEE) include tuition, required fees and undergraduate books and course materials, including a required computer. Room and board are not QEE.

College visit costs and application fees are  not QEE.

See IRS Publication 970, for details. https://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/p970.pdf
