My high school child took summer classes, required for graduation. We paid fees for them to the HS, bought books and materials( drawing kit). I would like to be sure if I can claim these expenses as an education credit and are there any specific forms or receipts that I must attach to Form IL-1040.
Thank you

For federal tax purposes, high school summer classes do not qualify as education expenses because they are not college education expenses (higher education) and the school is not an eligible school.
However, if you live in a state that has an income tax, check to see if there is an education credit that may be available to you. See How do I contact my state Department of Revenue?
