Should I take the partial section 179 and the 50% special depreciation allowance or just the 50% special depreciation allowance?

That is a decision only you can make ... review your income on the Sch C since the 179 deduction cannot reduce your income below zero.  Also review the rest of the return.  And then try some different combinations ... this is the only legal way to manipulate your Sch C income to effect the rest of the return.
