Sales tax paid for business (related to goods sold). Where do I enter that number?

I collected and paid state sales tax on goods that I sold as part of my business. Is there a place where I can enter in that amount, or would it be more appropriate to subtract that amount (manually) from the gross receipts? In truth, the sales tax I collected is reported as income currently. Perhaps it should not be.

To enter your sales tax:

  • Log on to TurboTax and click on the orange button, Take Me To My Return.
  • Type Sch C in the search/find bar and click search/find.
  • Click on Jump to Sch C.
  • Click on start/edit or Add Another Business.
  • TurboTax will ask you a series of questions.
  • At the 'Your xxxx Business' screen, scroll down to Business Expenses.
  • To enter expenses like sales tax, cell phone and office supplies, click start/update next to Other Common Business Expenses
  • On the Let's write off some business expenses screen, scroll down to Taxes and Licenses, click start/update.
  • Continue with the onscreen interview.
