2019 Turbo Tax Business Failing to Import 2018 Partners

I am having the same issue as described by other users. Turbo Tax Business 2019 fails to to transfer all the LLC members from my 2018 tax return. I talked to a Turbo Tax specialist on Monday. I did a number of things based on her recommendations, but remained unsuccessful.  She finally gave me a new license code in case the one from Costco had issues.  I tried it after uninstalling the old software from Costco and installing the new software from Turbo Tax.  However, it did not help and I continue to have the same issue.  I am really getting concerned since the tax return is due by 3/15/2020.

If your software specialist are working on this issue, I will be happy to provide screen shots or any other details from our 2018 Turbo Tax Business file for them to work on. Please let me know since timing is getting critical for us.  Thanks!

2019 Turbo Tax Business Failing to Import 2018 Partners

I'm having the same issue as reported in this message string.  Not evening going to try to get resolution through support - seems like a fruitless exercise.  Happy to provide info if developers want to reach out for info.  Very, very disappointing to have issues with something as basic as rolling forward a prior year turbotax file.  Response to issues raised thus far is equally disappointing.

@rtg Have you tried updating your software recently? If not, please do so and re-transfer your 2018 return.

Just did.  Still having same problem.  Change of ownership if I add Shareholder.

The developers are definitely aware of this issue and are working on rectifying it but the primary problem is that it does not affect all users (i.e., only some are experiencing this issue). Regardless, they will hopefully be able to isolate the bug (if that is the cause) and fix it in the near future.

Yes, software is up to date and I tried to import the file twice.  Same issue both times.

2019 Turbo Tax Business Failing to Import 2018 Partners

I have been updating my Turbo Tax Business 2019 software as updates become available.  However, I am still getting the issues.

I can understand developers’ frustration since this issue does not affect all the users.  However, have the developers worked on this issue using a 2018 tax file from an affected customer?  I would like to see if your developers come up with the same issues as the affected customers.

Just like the others that posted over weekend, I've updated just now and it's still having the same issue for me too.

I know they have asked affected users for screenshots and tax files, yes.

Having the same issue.  Please resolve or provide a work around.

There is no workaround, currently. The options for this issue are either to start a new return or fix the 2018 return and then transfer that return to the 2019 version.

Thank you for providing a clue to resolve my 2019 Turbo Tax Business issue.  Here is how I resolved it.

I re-did my 2018 tax return after updating my 2018 Turbo Tax Business software.  Then I used the updated 2018 file to start my 2019 Turbo Tax Business software.  Now the 2019 software has correctly imported all the partnership information.

Last year I had completed my return in February.  Although, I did not have any issues with my tax return last year, the software had a later update.  I am assuming that I was having issues with my 2019 Turbo Tax Business software since my 2018 tax return was not done with the latest software.  My issues are now resolved.  I am hoping that information will help other 2019 Turbo Tax Business software users.

When you say re-did your 2018 return, what did that involve?

I am have  the  exact  same  problem  , not  importing any partners  from 2018 and will not allow adding partners  without acknowledging  change in ownership.

There is something wrong with the 2018 return that you transferred; either the return indicates that a partner left the partnership, the partnership ended, or something similar.

The only way to resolve this situation, other than starting a new return, is to review your 2018 return (using the 2018 version of TurboTax Business) and correct any errors that may be present prior to transferring.
