You should be happy. The IRS does not send emails about stimulus payments. They don't even have your email address. Any email you get about a stimulus payment is a scam.
They are referring to the email about attempting to deposit the money that didn't make it to millions of people. Most that have received this email from TT are now receiving deposits. Some did not get the email and are worried that they are not being recognized as part of the issue and resolution. I happen to be one of them as well.
The email went to people who paid for TurboTax with their refund. Did you do that?
If you don't receive your stimulus check by the time you prepare your tax return for this year (2020), you can apply for it when you file your tax return.
When you prepare your tax return for 2020 in TurboTax, you will be prompted to enter how much you received for your stimulus and then the program will calculate the amount of stimulus due you based on your income, number of dependents and payments already received. If any additional stimulus is due you, it will be used to reduce your 2020 income tax liability, and the balance will be refunded to you.
You will see the options when you are done entering your tax information and proceed to the review process.
You can file a tax return in 2020 to get your stimulus check, even if you aren't required to otherwise.
