With the new tax law, comes new schedules and they can be confusing. Schedule 3 includes the following non-refundable tax credits:

  • Foreign tax credit
  • Child and dependent care credit
  • The nonrefundable portion of the American Opportunity Credit
  • Lifetime Learning Credit
  • Retirement savings contributions credit ("Saver's Credit")
  • Residential energy credit
  • Other credit from Forms 3800 and 8801.

If you have any one of the above you will need Schedule 3.
