I successfully e-filed my federal 1041. I get an Error Code 54 when I attempt to file my 541 with California State.

The Error Code pop-up states that my Turbotax software is not up to date, and that updating the software will solve the problem. Upon checking for updates, I am told that I have the latest version.

I called Turbotax support but the individual kept thinking that I was using an on-line product and needed to clear my cache...

Any ideas? Thank you in advance!

If you are using the Download version there are a few tricks that have worked to clear this error.

Uninstall and Reinstall the program
Try doing a Manual Update Manually Update TurboTax for Windows Software
Update your software with your VPN and Antivirus off

This worked for me too! Thanks for the advice. It seems to except the update after reinstalling the program.

Did you ever manage to get you CA 541 e-filed? I am currently in the same situation federal went through but keep getting error code 54 for the state.
