Are k-1 forms needed for initial filing of 1041?

"are k-1 forms needed for initial filing of 1041?"

A K-1 reports a beneficiary's share of income, deductions, and credits that are being passed through from the trust/estate to the beneficiary.

If any of those items are not being passed through (e.g., no distributions were made), then K-1s are not needed.
