11th grade High School Student - mandatory Flute lessons as a condition of being a member of the Symphony Band (7 lessons per marking period)

My son is required to take music lessons for Symphony Band. Is the amount paid for these lessons deductible as an 'education expense' for secondary school?

No.

Qualified education expenses are only for post-secondary education.
