How do we determine if we need to file the form 1041?  Will the Estate/ Trust need to issue documents to the beneficiaries?  Aside from the sale of the house, the trust has only paid final medical expenses and expenses associated with the house prior to the sale.  The trust has Co-Trustees, I assume both Trustees have to file an identical form?

Is this an estate or a trust? You might want to seek professional tax and/or legal guidance for this matter.

Regardless, medical expenses are not deductible on Form 1041 (for an estate or a trust).

Only one of the trustees would have to file and sign Form 1041, if the return is required.
