Hello, I no longer need Schedule C but can't seem to get rid of it. How do I do that?

If you were self-employed in a prior year and the information transferred over to the current year please see the following TurboTax FAQ on how to delete a prior-year Schedule C business that transferred over: (note: the FAQ refers to year 2015 and in your case it would be 2016 but otherwise the same information given applies)

If you were never in business and you would like to delete Schedule C follow the steps below:

  • Sign into your TurboTax Online Account
  • Select “Continue your Return”
  • Click “My Account” located on the right side of the blue menu bar at the top of your screen
  • Select “Tools”
  • The next screen will be the “Tools Center”
  • Under “Other Helpful Links” choose “Delete a Form”

Hello Ashley,

Thank You very much for the helpful advice. I had completed/entered all my federal tax information and got to the smart check when it found 19 items that needed to be addressed, but the software did not ask prior.

The information that I was being asked when I was reviewing everything no longer applied this year. I thought OMG, I can't answer these questions because the situation did not exist. Thanks to your answer I found I was able to delete some forms and move forward. I did lose about $100.00 in return, but well worth it and I shouldn't have to deal with it next year.

Thanks Again,

Stevie J.
