You should keep the same person first, no matter who earned more money.

The IRS stores its tax data by the first person on the return. If you are trying to correct the entries to be like last year, then your instincts are correct. If your name was first last year, then it needs to be first this year and ever after, until you are no longer filing jointly.

Changing the order of the names will not be easy. First, you will need to delete your name, so that you can enter your husband as primary. Then you will need to replace his name as spouse with your name.

When you delete your name, you may lose all the information in the tax return that was attributed to you. Please check carefully through the return to make sure that each W-2 and 1099 is present and correctly attributed to the right person.

You can preview your tax return by clicking My Account > Print Center. (In TurboTax desktop edition, you can see all your forms by clicking on the Forms icon.
