Not sure what you mean about a second tax return.  Can you be more specific?

Why would you receive a second tax return?  Do you mean you received federal and not state?  Or vice versa?

 

Federal and state refunds come from completely separate entities,  There is no rule as to which one will come first or how much time there will be between their arrivals.
