Why is my colorado state still pending

Hope my timeline helps everyone see how our returns are progressing through the process from "Submission" to "Refund Approved and Sent".  The timeline for your return could likely be different.  However, this might help in managing your expectations.

  • I submitted my Colorado State return through TurboTax on Feb 10th.
  • TurboTax notified me, through email, my state return was accepted on Wed, Feb 21, 2024 at 8:04 AM.
  • Colorado State updated my status on their website to "Return Received & Being Processed" overnight on Wed, Feb 21, 2024.  I saw this updated status when I checked "Where's My Refund" on Thu, Feb 22, 2024 at 6:30 AM.

I will provide further updates as my return continues moving through the process.

Hope this helps.

Why is my colorado state still pending

It’s looking like it’s going to be a very slow process this year. The new verification process and starting late really put Colorado tax filers behind. The lack of transparency is the worst part imo. Hang in there. It’s going to take a bit of time. After filing my return on February 5th I was just recently accepted 2 days ago. 2+ more weeks of waiting and I might see my return.

Finally tracked the delay to Colorado. They acknowledge getting my return on 1 February and accepting it into their system as of 13 February. It entered into the processing part on 22 February. Unknown as to when I will actually see money.

Other than poor communications with Colorado customers, TT functioned correctly.

my state return now shows processing on the Colorado website and TurboTax .. it was transmitted it on 2/1 - which is also when the state says it was received...

Same. Timeline for those for loose comparison. Filed 1/17 - CO got it 2/13 like most people. Was in refund reviewed for a few days. Tonight I just checked after seeing someone said it was sent and now says refund approved and sent.

This morning it was still refund reviewed.

I should note, however, that it says it was sent on 2/27 to the bank on file. So somehow it's a time traveler 😉

Why is my colorado state still pending

Same here! Now I’m still waiting on federal to send me a refund as well.

Why is my colorado state still pending

Mine was approved and sent as well this morning. I had a bank account on file but was sent out as a paper check. I wonder why it was sent as a check instead of direct deposit?

Why is my colorado state still pending

Yep same thing happened to me for the second year in a row!! only this time i live in California now and they sent it to my old address in Colorado! I am SOOOOOOO INCREDIBLY PISSED OFF AT COLORADO RIGHT NOW!! Can't call to talk to anybody until monday. I HAVE NEVER BEEN MORE ANGRY THAN I AM RIGHT NOW!!

Following up with my data again.

Recap:

My son's return filed directly through CO website, not TT, and it's fully funded and in his account.

My return filed through TT, a full week earlier than my son's, and it's stuck in "review."  Moreover, the forms that TT said it included are not shown as received by CO and my anticipated refund amount is short nearly $400. This will force me to file an amendment to my CO return.

Somewhere, somehow, the transmission between TT and CO didn't process smoothly. I should have submitted the forms directly myself.  I'll be requesting a refund from TT.  Not only was it not FIFO, it was incomplete and now I have an amendment to deal with.

My refund hit my bank overnight.

Just a recap. Filed 1/17 - CO site didn't show anything until 2/21. 2/23 said it was sent for 2/27. Was in my bank the morning of 2/28.

Why is my colorado state still pending

I got my refund yesterday. This year has been really awfully slow.

Why is my colorado state still pending

Despite having direct deposit on mine. It was mailed and it still hasn't arrived. With the high rate of mail theft that happens to checks by postal employees it was stupid of the state to mail out checks. I tried calling the wait time was so long they said to call back another time.
