Refund dates are provided after returns are processed and approved.
The IRS started processing returns later than in prior years and as such has a backlog to work through.
It simply means that your e-filed return is being processed and that the government hasn't approved or rejected it yet. Sometimes return status does not update for several days or even longer.
During this time, the government reviews your refund (processing).
During the review process, they look for math errors on your return (extremely rare in TurboTax) and they also check if you owe back taxes, unpaid child support, or other debts.
If they need to make any corrections, they may offset (reduce) your refund. In some cases, the correction might even increase your refund.
Once that part's done, the government approves your refund, which means it's ready to be deposited or sent.
It can take up to 21 calendar days after acceptance for the IRS to issue your refund, although most refunds go more quickly than that, while a small handful may take a bit longer

Why dont my refund status say a refund date will be provided when available just says still processing whats this mean is it bad ?
My federal refund was accepted 3/21/20 and said (refund procesing) on 3/28/20 my refund when from saying (refund procesing too saying refund STILL Processing). It's now 4/20/20 32 days after my refund has been accepted and I still don't have a refund date. I've tried to use all the tools available to me to find out what's going on and what I need to do if anything. All doors lead me to call IRS. but they are not doing any live help. (Meaning they not answering phone at this time ). Someone with any information on this matter please give me some insight into this matter. Thank you all and God bless
