Do I have to report on my 2017 tax return the 1098-MA form for (Mortgage Assistance Payments) ??
You'll need to sign in or create an account to connect with an expert.
Form 1098-MA is for informational purposes and is not reported on your federal return or entered into Turbo Tax.
However, if you are claiming mortgage interest deduction, please use the Form's information to make sure that you are only claiming the interest payments that you made (usually box 3) and not the payments made by the government on your behalf. The amount paid by the government is indicated on 1098-MA.
