You can track your refund on the North Carolina Department of Revenue's Where's My Refund? page.

The average processing time for refunds is 6 weeks from the date they accepted or received the return.

If it has been more than 12 weeks since the NCDOR accepted (received) your return and you still don't have a refund, they ask that you call them toll-free on 1-877-252-3052.

Statement from North Carolina Department of revenue: the North Carolina Department of Revenue offers a text message notification service for updates on individual income returns. When you register for the service, you will receive a text message when a return is filed with your Social Security Number and when your refund in mailed or direct deposited. The service also allows you to take action before you to take action before a fraudulent refund is issued.  If you are a victim of identity theft, you will receive a text message if a fraudulent return is filed with your social security number. The NCDOR will not include your Social Security Number in any text message. Go to https://www.dornc.com/electronic/refundprocess.html to learn more about the service and sign up
