Hi! You won't be able to amend until your 2019 return has been accepted by the IRS. When your status changes to Accepted, you'll see the Amend (change) return option under Your tax return & documents.

The option showed up for me approximately 18 hours after the Feds accepted my return. Beware of a bug if you have increased withholding, it doesn't consider the reduced penalty in my experience.
But you should not mail in the amended return until the original return is fully processed and you got the first refund. The IRS may catch any errors and fix it for you.
Does that apply to payments too? In my case, I missed withholding on my wife's 1099-R that changed my liability from 18K to 5K. Does the IRS check the W-2 and 1099-R withholding in considering what I owe even though I left out one of them in the original return?
