What needs done to signify that the return I am starting is for a deceased parent?

Do I check a box or type deceased in somewhere? I dont want to get into it and find out I cant go back

Yes after you enter their name there will be a list of items one will be did they pass away before filing the return.   Just go slow and read every screen close.  And yes you can always go back and jump around and change anything.  You can even clear and start over.
