We notice you didn’t make any estimsted PA tax payments for your federal return…but I did! Went back and reentered but still same message. Now what?

Is that the exact message?  Did you enter the estimates paid?  Did you pick the right state?

To enter Federal or State Estimated Taxes Paid, including a state estimated payment made in January for the prior year, go to

Federal on left or at top. Personal (Home & Business)

Deductions and Credits

Then scroll way down to Estimates and Other Taxes Paid

Estimated - click the Start or Update button

You enter state estimated payments under the federal side (because they can be a federal itemized Deduction). THEN after you finish filling out the estimates under Federal you need to click on the State Tab at the top and start the state return over for it to update.

You have to pick the right state from the drop down box and enter the right payment dates.

To paint the picture that Volvogirl is describing even clearer:

1. Go to Deductions and Credits

2. Go to Estimates and other taxes paid, and then Estimates

3. Then go to State Estimated taxes for 2023

4. Did you click Yes here?

5. Is this where you entered the PA estimated tax payments?

I ask because the message you referred to sounded like a similar message in the W-2 section, and I want to make sure we are all talking about the same thing.
