We mailed in an injured spouse claim after we efiled our taxes. It was received March 7th, it has been past the 8 weeks to get our refund. Now they say another 30 days?

Typically it takes at least 14 weeks for a refund when you file injured spouse, and we have been hearing from other users that the IRS has said it is taking longer this year.  So you just have to patient.

I thought it was 11-14 weeks if you filed injured spouse with your original tax return. I thought it was 8 weeks if filed separate after your original return. I guess it’s the IRS so they can take all the time they decide to, what else is there to do besides sit and be patient?

Another user posted that the IRS said there is a large backlog of these claims to process, so it is taking longer.
