After E-filing in February, I still have no refund. Called IRS at 7 am and talked to an agent. My refund was held up because Social Security didn't give them my change of name after I was divorced. I changed my name with Social Security in 2014. I have not filed taxes in years because I am on SSDI. The IRS agent said it would be at least 8 weeks if not more after Social Security gets the info straight before I will get a refund. Not positive confirmation yet, but I am sure this is why I haven't received a stimulus check.
Called Social Security and they have my name correct. They told me that was a cop out that the IRS told me my name was the reason for the hold up. There was nothing Social Security could do to help me.
I am going to call the local IRS office to see if someone can get this straightened out.
Seems like the IRS is just making excuses.
