Verifying State Payment

Hi all!

my return was completed in TurboTax the early part of the last week in February. I opted to efile my federal and nonresident state and pay my resident state this past Friday (3/6). However, I haven’t seen any payment come out nor do the tax documents for that state have payment information listed. The state I owe is N.C.  is there a point in time where I need to request a payment voucher or TurboTax would notify me of needing to make the payment?

Well....it might not show for a couple days..so wait until Wednesday the 11th before taking any additional steps.

to double-check now

1) Download a NEW pdf file of your Federal and state tax return.

2) Look for the State copy of the "Electronic Filing Instructions".

3) IF you actually arranged the payment successfully, it will show on that sheet, and should look like the one in the picture below....Example from 2018..

4)  IF it's showing properly in #3, check your routing and account numbers....won't go thru if those are wrong

5)  IF it does not show in #3, then you have to pay separately (Wait until Wednesday anyhow..just in case).  You can arrange a separate DirectDebit on the NC State website.  You can pay thru there website  (link below: select the top box on rt-hand side "Pay Original ax Due" )
