Are you using the Desktop program or the Online version?  You should not have done the amended.  And before you amended or wanted to do a test return you should have saved your return with a different name to test in assuming you used the Desktop installed program.

After you cancelled the amended return you have to manually take out the changes and put your return back to the original.
