Turbotax desktop is changing form 500 instead of amending it on form 500x. This results in another refund.

It sounds like the amended return option may have been inadvertently selected in the state interview section.

To remove this option, go to the state interview screens.  Proceed through the screens until you see Other situations.  Select edit to the right of this section.

Next, scroll down to section titled Other forms and select start/revisit to the right of Amend a Tax Return.

On the page titled "Amend (Change) a Previous Georgia Return," select the option I don't need to amend my 2024 return. Then select Continue.
