How to reduce prior year-year state tax carryforward?

The state reduced the amount of overpayment I have available to apply to my 2017 state taxes.  How do I change this amount on my state return?

To reduce the amount of refund applied to your 2017 state income tax return:

• Click on Federal Taxes
• Click on Deductions & Credits
• Click I'll choose what I work on
• Scroll to Estimates and Other Taxes Paid
• Click on the button beside Other Income Taxes
• Click the button beside 2016 refund applied to 2017 state taxes
• Adjust the amount
