I filed my taxes prior to the enactment of the American Rescue Plan in late March. Under the original tax rules I owed $1500 to the Federal Government which I scheduled for withdrawal on 4/15. Upon passage of the ARP I realize that I should have a $10,200 income reduction from unemployment benefits that are now not taxable income. I believe that amount would either eliminate or greatly reduce the $ I owe. The IRS advise issued in late March indicated that we should hold tight and NOT file an amended return. Given the extended filing date I cancelled my 4/15 auto payment in the hopes I would have some clarity on what I owe or not by the new filing date in May, but so far nothing. Not sure if I should pay, and await a refund. Or hang tight and await a refund or new payment owed amount? Not sure how much I am risking in terms of late fees etc. Would welcome any thoughts on best next steps.

IRS says:
"Penalties and interest may apply to money you owe after the due date."
Your tax return now after TurboTax updates will show you the amount you owe.
Thanks, but the amount owed has not changed in Turbotax since I filed in March, and that doesn't seem possible if over 10k is coming off my AGI....
I hate the idea of paying $1500 to the IRS that I don't actually owe, and then having to wait for them to get around to paying me back.
