Tax Topic 152

I see everybody asking why they are showing tax topic 152 on WMR. I want to know why I had it and it disappeared! What does this mean for the status of my taxes?

Tax Topic 152

IRS Topic No. 152  is just general information about the IRS processing of returns.

  • Generally, if you signed up for direct deposit, you'll see this tax topic appear in the Where's My Refund tool.
  • If the IRS needs more information from you, they will indicate it here followed up by a letter sent to you.
  • There is no need for concern when you see this particular topic.

Tax Topic 152

No I’m asking if you don’t see it. I haven’t had tax topic 152 in 11 days. Everyone is asking what does it mean when you have it. I’m asking what does it mean when you don’t?!

Tax Topic 152

Tax Topic 152 is general refund information. The IRS issues more than 9 out of 10 refunds in the normal time frame which is less than 21 days. However, it’s possible that some tax returns may require further review and could take longer to arrive. Please see the information below about Tax Topic 152: https://www.irs.gov/taxtopics/tc152

If you don't see that status any longer, its possible you have been cleared of the issue in question.
