It depends.  If the 1099-G lowers the amount of your refund, the IRS may adjust your refund or they may send all of your refunds and expect that you pay the difference back.  There is not much you can do except to wait and not worry.  You will get the refund you are due; it will just take a little longer than normal.  As you stated, you were randomly chosen which happens all the time, so just be patient and let them do their review.  Often times a 60-day review does not take 60 days.  Your status will say 'being processed' until they complete their review, so check back periodically and try not to worry.  It is common for the IRS to review returns; it doesn't mean there is anything wrong with your return.

Sounds great even though I sent in my amendment today...?! It won’t effect me to get my refund,, I’m sorry I just wanna be clear & yes it will lower my refund amount by 1,000.

If the IRS  says you are under a 60 day review, sending the Amended 1040X will not speed things up.

You are at the mercy of the IRS at this point.

If the 1099-G will lower your refund, chances are the IRS will catch the error and adjust for it.

Next you will most likely will a receive a letter informing you that your refund has been reduced.

If that happens, you will have the choice of accepting the change (and accepting the lower refund), or challenging it.

Again, at this point, there is nothing you can do but wait for further instructions from the IRS.
