My 2019 tax returns have been rejected twice by federal and state due to Reject Code ROOOO-504-02 which is in regards to my dependent's social security number. This is the first time claiming my father so I assumed it was his, but I called the SSA and they have confirmed it is correct. I have claimed my daughter for the last 16 years so I know her social is correct. I don't know how to proceed. Please help ASAP.

thank you,

Reject code R0000-504-02 means that the dependent's Social Security number or last name does not match the IRS records. So the SSN could be correct but the last name is wrong. Check the spelling carefully, especially the first four letters of the last name. It has to match the last name on his Social Security card, or on a recent Form SSA-1099 or letter from Social Security. If your father has more than just one first name and one last name, what the SSA thinks is his last name might not be the same as what you think is his last name. If either your daughter or your father changed their name, that could also lead to a mismatch.

The -02 usually indicated that it is the 2nd dependent listed.   The records in the Social Security Administrations data  base might be incorrect.  You need to enter the name exactally as on the social security card  and the correct date of birth.    Sometimes the SSA has the wrong DOB.   Check with the SSA.

If you do not have an error then you will have to mail file this year.
