I filed my taxes with my wife but they were rejected because my children had already filed as a dependent and therefore I could not claim them. I've adjusted the documents and refiled. When I initially filed, I had paid the entire amount of federal taxes owed using a credit card. When I made the adjustments I requested to make payments on my taxes. My question is, will I be refunded the amount that was already charged my credit card or will that amount go to the IRS still?

Do you mean your children filed as Independent? Or did someone else claim them as dependents (such as their other parent, who is not your wife)? Please clarify before we answer your question.
HOW did you pay the balance due ??? Did you request the debit happen when you filed the return ? If so the debit instructions did not make it to the IRS since they rejected acceptance of the return you filed.
Or did you pay online directly with the IRS and does your CC statement show the payment ?
