I filed my taxes through TurboTax over a month ago. Both my state and federal taxes were accepted and I was supposed to be receiving almost $2,000 total. I have, as of now, only received a total of $290 because all of the sudden my dependent filed on my taxes had incorrect information and apparently my AGI is “too high”. Which is all entirely false, I do not make more than average, I work just over minimum wage, and I do not have any dependents nor did I file a dependent. I’ve contacted both TurboTax and the IRS and nobody seems to be any help. They both say my tax returns were accepted and “everything looks good on our end” yet I have only received a fraction of what was promised and my tax forms show I did not file a dependent and my calculations were correct when the IRS says my dependent was filed incorrectly and my calculations for AGI are incorrect. It is absolutely impossible to reach a solution when there is nobody available to contact. If anyone knows anything, please let me know! I am a college student working full time at a minimum wage job, all I want is what I was promised!!

It sounds like you are seeing a generic message that the IRS gives you when they have reduced your refund for some reason. It will take several more weeks but they will send you a more explicit and specific reason for the reduced refund. Wait for the letter. TurboTax does not receive any information from the IRS after you file your tax return.
I received that letter and it just says the same information the website says. It’s just frustrating because none of the reasons they’re giving me pertain to me at all! I don’t have a dependent and I don’t make that much a year so I don’t know what I’m supposed to do when the IRS isn’t taking calls at this time and the information they’re saying is wrong, is not even information that applies to me at all.
