Somehow I simply forgot about my estimated state and federal taxes earlier this year. There may be a penalty which is fine, but how do I fix this as cleanly as possible?

I normally set a Google calendar reminder for this, but somehow didn't, and blissfully went through months without thinking about it. I just don't want to raise any red flags, that's all. I have the funds to pay all the estimated taxes, no problem.

Make payments now. One payment for federal and one for state, for the total amounts that you should have paid earlier. It won't "raise any red flags."
