I want to know if it is necessary (required, or advised) to amend my return.
Because I discovered I paid more in property taxes than I reported in this year's return, I decided to correct this oversight by amending the taxes. However, after doing so, I find the amounts owed and refunded are the same. Neither the government nor I get more or less in the amended return.
So, given that I paid the government more and not less than it showed in the original return, is it necessary to submit the amendment?
I'd just like to hear your thoughts.
Thanks.

Based on your description, there’s no need for you to amend your return.
In IRS Topic No. 308, Amended Returns, the IRS says that you need to "file an amended return if there's a change in your filing status, income, deductions, or credits." Since the deductions allowed on your return don’t change, there’s no need to amend.
Also see the TurboTax Help article Do I need to amend? for additional information.
Thank you, John!
That's good news!
