Should I amend my dad's returns?

I've been doing my dads taxes for 9 yrs with TurboTax & just this year discovered a deduction that saved him over $700.00. How many years returns can he amend and should we do this? I've always heard that amending a return is a big red flag for an audit?

In order to receive a refund you can amend as far back as 2013. ( Your would have to amend 2013 before this year's tax deadline)
