Should file amended return?

My daughter (22yoa full time student and full time employed) filed 1040EZ and put 1098T info on her return - now federal rejects our (parents) return with same SSN on 8863 (we are MFJ and paid tuition and fees and claim her as dependent)  How do we resolve?

Should file amended return?

If your dependent child did not indicate on her return that she could be claimed on someone else's return, when you try to e-file with her listed on your return as a dependent, your return will be rejected.  Your kid will need to file an amended return that indicates she can be claimed, and you will, unfortunately, need to print and mail your own return instead of e-filing.

Your child can file an amended tax return when IRS comes out with the approved amended Form 1040X on Feb 22nd. It is best to wait for her to get her refund first before amending.
