how is the interest earned on matured series ee bonds reported to the irs when cashed at a credit union
You'll need to sign in or create an account to connect with an expert.
Enter the 1099-INT form in the Interest and Dividend section. Mark the small box that reads 'My form has info in more than just box 1' and that will open up other boxes for you.
Report the interest from Series EE Savings bonds when you cash them or when they reach maturity, whichever comes first.
If you get a 1099 from the credit union or even if you don't, enter it as interest on a 1099-INT and put the interest in Box 3 (not box 1). You have to check the little box under box 1 that says my form has more boxes for it to open up.
